5th Grade Jan 14-18th

In math we took our Geometry test on Monday. If students wish to retake the test to get a better score, they are welcome to. They can get up to 85% on retake. This week in math we are starting our Fractions Unit. We will be reviewing the meaning of fractions, learning about how fractions relate to division, and learning about mixed numbers. Our essay for writing this week is on our Favorite Book. Students are to write about why someone should read this book, not just to give a summary of the book.

This Week's Info

All grades have been posted. It is officially the 3^rd term now! My how fast the school year has gone! We are half way through the year now! Let’s keep up all of the hard work! Again, our class has run out of Kleenex. If you could send some to school with your student it would be much appreciated! We use a lot of tissues at this time of year! 

4th Grade Jan 7-11th

In math we are now learning division. Some students are starting to understand it now and many students are still having a hard time with it. This is definitely a hard concept for students to learn. We have been trying to understand what division is and then learning how to do long division. Students will need lots of support and lots of practice with long division. In writing we are starting our Imagination Unit. Students are writing 2 stories about pictures I have. They are imagining what is happening in these pictures and writing a story about it. These stories will be due on Friday, January 18^th.

5th Grade Jan 7-11th

This week in math we are finishing our Geometry Unit. We will be reviewing on Friday and then taking our test on Monday. We have been learning about polygons and will be learning about transformations and symmetry this week. We will also be making a Geometry Book that students will be able to use as notes on our test. In writing we are writing a persuasive letter asking an adult for music lessons to learn how to play an instrument. Please make sure that your student has typed in all of their essays into My Access and then turned in their Graphic Organizers and Rough Drafts. Each week students receive up to 100 points for their essay in My Access. They also receive up to 100 points for their Graphic Organizer and Rough Draft. They earn 25 points for their Graphic Organizer and 75 points for their Rough Draft if it is revised and edited. This is a total of 200 points total a week. Please make sure your students get all 3 of these things done and turned in!
