Miss Teaford's Class: Week 12

This week in reading we are learning about the differences between poetry (fictional stories), poetry, and plays. Our Spelling this week is Sort 20. All words have the long -u sound.

In writing we are still working on our poetry. We will be finishing drafting our poems this week and we will start revising, editing, and publishing our 10 poems next week.

In math we are starting our Place Value Unit. This is a very foundational unit where we will work with large numbers up through the millions. Last Friday we took our Unit 3 test on fractions. Our class did better than we have done all year long! I am so proud of our class for doing so well on that test! Hopefully we can keep up this good work with our next math unit!

Please don't forget to have your students log in their minutes to Road to Success. We will soon be having our school drawing for the iPod, bike, or scooter. Your student receives 1 ticket each week for logging 5 days read and 2 tickets for 7 days read. Please encourage your student to read and log in their days!

Lastly, the term ends next Friday, November 15th. I will not be putting in any new grades this week or next week. Please make sure that your student gets in all of their missing assignments so they do not get zeros on their assignments. I need all missing assignments in by Wednesday, November 13th so that I can put grades in.
