4th Grade Mar 25-29th

In math we are learning about probability. We are talking about how to predict outcomes, figuring out if games are fair, and assigning numbers/fractions to the likelihood of events. In writing we are starting our Pourqoui Tales unit. A Pourquoi Tale is a story that explains how or why something came to be, such as a story explaining how the cheetah got its spots. This week students will be writing a rough draft of their tale. When we get back from Spring Break, students will make a book for their final draft of their story. This will include pictures and be around 30 pages long. We will also be having our Spring Party on Friday.

Last Term Info!

I can’t believe Spring Break is already here! I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Spring Break next week. It is officially the beginning of the last term of the school year as well. My, how this school year sure has flown by! I have been noticing a severe lack in responsibility by students to complete and turn in their homework in on time. In order to prepare students for the future and to teach them responsibility, all late homework will now be docked10%. If a student is absent, they have as many days as they were absent to turn their homework in before it is considered late. They should write on the top of their homework “absent” when they turn it in.

4th Grade Mar 18-22nd

In math we are finishing up our measurement unit. Students will be taking a test on Wednesday for this unit. I will also be letting students retake their fraction test on Wednesday if they wish. In writing we are finishing our Biographies. They are due on Friday March 22nd. In other news, we have finally earned a party! Our party will be Tuesday March 19th. We will be watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We recently finished reading this book so this will be a great opportunity for us to compare and contrast the book and movie. Students are welcome to bring blankets and pillows as well as snacks.
