Week 31

This week in Reading we are continuing to talk about reading strategies. We are talking about visualizing and questioning while we read. Our spelling is Sort 53 on Homophones.

This week in Writing we are starting our Pourquoi Tales. Students are going to be writing stories explaining why or how something in nature happened. For example, why mosquitoes buzz, how the zebra got it's stripes, etc . . . We will be making a small book for this story, illustrated as well as written by the student. Also, I want to let you know that our writing testing will begin the week after Spring Break.

This week in Math we are starting a unit on geometric shapes. We will be talking about shape patterns, reviewing lines and triangles, learning about quadrilaterals, and learning about symmetry.

This week in Social Studies students will finish rebuilding their ghost town and then they will begin creating their own communities. They will sketch a map of their community and then use the Chrome books and Google Drive and will create a computerize drawing of their community map. Also, I've decided to give students another couple of days to finish their Native American Model Home project. My class's project will be due on Wednesday, April 16th and Miss Goldsborough's class will be due on Thursday, April 17th.

Lastly, our class has run of of tissues. If you can have your student bring some for the class that would be very helpful!
