Welcome to Class!

I am so excited to be teaching 4th and 5th grade Math and Writing this year at Cascade! This is my 1st year teaching and I am thrilled to be at Cascade. I graduated from BYU and have spent the past 2 years Substitute Teaching for Nebo School District.
For math this year we will be doing things a little different. Math homework will all be done online. Their textbook with the assignments will be available online at https://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com. Each student's username is the first letter in their first name followed by their last name without capitals or spaces. Their password is mathrules4 or mathrules5 according to their grade level.
For 4th grade writing this year we will be doing Writer’s Workshop. We will be going through the writing process with many genres of writing. These include writing narratives, stories, letters, poems, reports, biographies and more. We will be striving to become better writers this year and becoming more comfortable with writing.
For 5th grade writing we will be working on the following monthly assignments this year: August – How To, September – Autobiography, October – Mystery Drama, November-February – Persuasive (this much time is devoted to Persuasive writing to ensure your child’s readiness for the DWA at the end of the year), March – Poetry, April – State Report, and May – Fiction, Fantasy, or Favorites Book. We will be guiding students step-by-step through the writing process with their writing assignments.
